GRAMMAR NOTES BELOW

1.  Personal Pronouns

A personal pronoun is used to replace the name of a person, animal or thing (a noun). (Personal Pronoun digunakan untuk mengganti nama seseorang, binatang atau benda)

Examples :

·         My name is Rika.

·         Her name is Ana.

·         I am 16 years old.

·         She is 17 years old.

2.  Simple Present Tense

The simple present tense is used to describe everyday activities and habits, to make general statements of fact, and to express options. (simple present tense digunakan untuk menggambarkan aktivitas sehari-hari dan kebiasaan, untuk membuat pernyataan umum sesuai kenyataan, dan mengukapkan kebebasan)

a.    Present Tense of Be

Study the table below.

Examples :

·         I am 16 years old.

·         You are 16 years old.

·         She is 16 years old.

The following is how to make the negative and quetion forms.

I am 16 years old.	You are 16 years old.	She is 16 years old.
I am not 16 years old.	You are not 16 years old.	She is not 16 years old.
Am I 16 years old?	Are you 16 years old?	Is she 16 years old?

b.    Present tense of Verb

Note :

For subject He, She, or it just add –s or –es into its verbs. (untuk subjek He, She, or it hanya di tambahkan –s atau –es kedalam kata kerja)

Negative forms :

He She It	Does not (Doesn’t)
Rina Haris	Does not (Doesn’t)
Haris and Jaya	Do not (Don’t)

Note :

Use auxiliary verbs (do/Does ) to make negative and question forms. The verbs, then, return to their base froms. (menggunakan pelengkap kata kerja (do/does) untuk membuat bentuk kalimat negativ dan pertanyaan)

Example :

·         I work in a factory.

·         I don’t work in a factory.
